What does sustainability mean at Zalando?
Sustainability means being considerate of our planet and the people on it, across a wide range of topics including ethical working conditions, environmental impact and animal welfare. Our vision is to be a sustainable fashion platform with a net-positive impact on people and planet, and we've set ourselves a number of commitments to 2023 which you can read more about on our corporate website.
How can I find more sustainable products?
We care about making more sustainable choices accessible and understandable, which is why we offer an extensive assortment that is highlighted with our green Sustainability Flag. You can find more sustainable products throughout the store and can also use the "Sustainability" filter at the top of the catalogue to make searching easier. We also offer more detailed information about a product's specific sustainability benefits on the product page.
When does a product get a “SUSTAINABILITY” flag?
Fashion products are highlighted with the Sustainability Flag when they meet one of our sustainability criteria displayed below, which cover social, environmental and animal welfare standards. Our criteria are aligned with internationally recognized best practice in the fashion industry, including the Higg Materials Sustainability Index and Textile Exchange's Preferred Fibers and Materials list. Our sustainability criteria currently address the most environmentally impactful stages of production such as materials and manufacturing. We also show third-party certifications where possible, such as Fairtrade or the Global Organic Textile Standard, and will continue to improve our sustainability standards over time.
